Chillicothe, 90 miles east of Cincinnati hosts the Ross County Fair. August travelers through southern Ohio, be sure to pay a visit to the 2012 fair, at Chillicothe’s Ross County Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are located north of the city, just south of the Ross County Airport. From August 4th through the 11th, join friends and family at the Ross County Fair to see the best of southern Ohio produce, livestock and home-made goods. Enjoy performances by talented Ross County dancers and musicians, the Southern Ohio Guitar Show and the Easyriders Rodeo among the events.
Looking for outdoor summer recreation? Wolf Run State Park five miles north of Caldwell offers outstanding fishing, swimming and hiking. Fish for bass, trout and catfish, hike Lakeview Trial which runs along the shore, or enjoy a 3.5-mile trek along the Buckeye Trail, and be sure to take a refreshing swim off the beach at the south end of the lake. This is the season for family fun at Wolf Run Lake State Park.
It's summer break at Miami University, however, hometown Oxford is buzzing with activity. The annual Oxford Summer Music Festival fills Thursday evenings will a diversity of music through August 23rd. Marking the 26th year, the 2012 concerts continue to be held outdoors in Uptown Parks. The Hamilton Fairfield Symphony performs July 19th with Lisa Biales August 9th and Saffire Express closing the season on the 23rd. Pack a picnic and grab a blanket for an evening outdoors in Oxford.
Athletes, close your summer training at Oxford's 10th State-to-State Half Marathon and 5K. Held Sunday September 30th, the 2012 race is an out-and-back course starting and finishing at Oxford's Uptown Parks. The half-marathon course takes runners west into Indiana with a straight shot back to the finish line in Oxford.
