Visiting Cincinnati & Southern Ohio
It’s an exciting time to visit the Queen City. The warm weather’s perfect for getting out and exploring attractions like the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens and the William Howard Taft National Historic Site, and the people of Cincinnati and surrounding communities like Harrison and Mason are gearing up for an abundance of special events. Big-league sports, kid-friendly fun, cultural festivals and more – Southern Ohio’s got it all this season.
Sports fans are in for an exciting few months. The Cincinnati Reds' season is in full swing, and what better way to enjoy temperatures in the 70s and 80s than by spending a day at the Great American Ball Park enjoying America’s Pastime? Check the schedule during your southern Ohio visit – the 2016 MLB season goes through the first week of October.
Football fans are delivered from the dog days of summer as the Cincinnati Bengals gear up for preseason action in mid-August. See which players deserve to make the cut when the Minnesota Vikings come to town on August 12th, and cheer on the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium on September 18th when they battle the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first home game of the 2016 NFL season.
September 24th is a great night to visit Cincinnati’s Coney Island. Fire Up the Night 2016 brings teams from all around the world to compete for the best fireworks display. Enjoy Coney Island’s classic amusement park rides and water slides while the air above fills with a spectacular display of color and sound – gates open at 4 p.m. and the skies light up at 8 p.m.
Mason and Monroe visitors aren’t too far away from the Medieval fun of the 2016 Ohio Renaissance Festival in Harveysburg. Promising everything from roaming performers to giant turkey legs and novelty vendors, the festival celebrates the traditions of a millennium ago, September 3rd through October 23rd.
Travel further north to reach Dayton and become immersed in a different set of traditions. Held September 9th through 11th at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, the 2016 Dayton Greek Festival invites visitors to taste traditional food, browse boutique items, and celebrate with live music and dancing. The all-day fun starts at 11 a.m. each day.
