It's fall in southern Ohio and the Cincinnati Bengals are in full season play, drawing chants of “Who Dey! Who Dey!” as crowds fill Paul Brown Stadium. The stadium also hosts the excitement of University of Cincinnati Bearcats football, meanwhile 35-miles north of Cincinnati, Miami University’s Yager Stadium is rocking as the Redhawks take the field – there is plenty of gridiron action for southern Ohio sports fans. Mason, 25-miles northeast of Cincinnati offers visitors activities ranging from outlet mall shopping to the Ozone Zipline Adventure. There is plenty of football and fall fun in Cincinnati and southern Ohio.
While the K-C Raceway, 50-miles south of Columbus, Ohio’s state capital, hosts the Dirt Track World Championship mid-October. Located south of Chillicothe, about 6-miles, visitors enjoy the world’s best racers in action on the 3/8 mile high-banked oval October 13th through the 15th. The action continues on October 29th, with the All Star Late Model races and on November 5th, with the Enduro. Car owners, don’t miss the Swap Meet November 12th to sell, trade and pick up parts.
Chillicothe’s Majestic Performing Arts Center offers visitors outstanding indoor entertainment events. Located on 2nd Street in downtown Chillicothe, 2011 fall and winter brings concerts from John Berry and Phil Dirt and the Dozers, and during the holiday season, the Chillicothe Civic Theatre’s performance of White Christmas. The Pump House Center for the Arts is another interesting indoor destination. Located in Yoctangee Park’s Ederlin Circle, enjoy the Chillicothe Where To Be Exhibition running through the end of October.
The cool fall weather doesn’t stop the fun in Mason. Kings Island Amusement Park remains open weekends through October featuring the Halloween Haunt, Trick-or-Treating with the Dinosaurs or the Howl-o-Fest family event. In Mason, the Beach Waterpark becomes The Beach on Ice – Ohio’s largest outdoor skating rink. Join the fun during special park hours December and January. Also open through December, is the Ozone Zipline Adventure at YMCA Camp Kern, northeast of Mason.
