Fall brings the excitement of football to Cleveland. The Cleveland Browns are packing in fans for the 2011 season. The season ends New Year's Day with a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Meanwhile the Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland is heating up with Cavaliers action. Also at Q arena, hockey fans are cheering on the AHL Lake Erie Monsters. Cleveland adds the Crush to the ladies Lingerie Football League for the 2011-2012 season – don’t miss the home game October 29th at Quicken Loans Arena. There is plenty of fall sports action in northeast Ohio.
Of course it's not all sports in Cleveland, when the weather cools it’s a great time to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum for a look at the redesigned Beatles exhibit. Take in the Climate Change exhibit at Cleveland Museum of Natural History, on display through the end of December. Head indoors to see the beauty of the cold - don’t miss Polar Obsession, featuring amazing photography of the Artic and Antarctica at the Museum through January 2012.
The Great Lakes Science Center is an interesting family destination. Located near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and Cleveland Browns Stadium, the Science Center features the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, the Science Phenomena Floor and the OMINIMAX Theater – this is convenient and fun for downtown Cleveland visitors.
Music Fans mark the week of October 31st through November 5th on the calendar. Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum honor Aretha Franklin at the 16th Annual American Music Masters series. Although Aretha is not scheduled to perform, the week’s activities culminate with a tribute concert on Saturday evening at the State Theater in Playhouse Square.
Mansfield Ohio, the hub of Richland County, is located 80-miles southwest of Cleveland and is the place to be for Halloween. The Ohio State Reformatory’s Haunted Prison Experience is on – visit if you dare. Running long weekends through October the Haunted Prison is an award winning experience - check it out on Reformatory Road in Mansfield.
