Visiting Columbus & Central Ohio

As you plan your next visit to central Ohio, prepare to find an impressive slate of things to see and do. During the fall and winter, central Ohio and the Columbus area will be abuzz with activity – from the top-notch events and festivals to the historic and must-visit attractions, this region of Ohio will no doubt entertain all members of the family.

Late 2016 and into early 2017 should yield incredible moments in central Ohio. Out in Wapakoneta you can explore the Armstrong Air & Space Museum, and be sure to enjoy a fall stroll through Historic Downtown Wapakoneta – the Riverside Arts Center will be particularly vibrant this time of year. You can find Wapakoneta directly north of Englewood along Interstate 75.

A more centrally located city in this region of Ohio is Marion. Found just about 50 miles north of downtown Columbus, Marion features two of the state’s premier historical attractions – the Warren G. Harding Home, and the Warren G. Harding Tomb. As you make your way into Columbus, be sure to swing through Marion and explore these two impressive sites.

Throughout the fall, Columbus, and many of its nearby suburbs like Hilliard, Hebron, and Pickerington, will be awash in scarlet and grey – this is Buckeyes territory. College football fans will no doubt be aware of the Ohio State University Buckeyes, and during your visit to Columbus this fall, be sure to visit Ohio Stadium for thrilling matchups. On November 5th, the Nebraska Cornhuskers come to town, and on November 26th, the biggest game of the year has the Michigan Wolverines visiting.

Be sure to check out the Newport Music Hall on December 10th when you’ll have a chance to see the band For Today live on stage. Their show starts at 6 p.m., is suitable for all ages, and is part of their The Farewell Tour.

The Davis Discovery Center will be the place to visit on January 20th. Your early-2017 stay in Columbus should be met with an excellent night of live folk music. On January 20th you can see Mark Erelli live on stage starting at 8 p.m. Tickets start at just $6, and you can easily make the drive in from nearby Delaware or Zanesville.
